Economía is the journal of the Latin American and Caribbean Economic Association ( LACEA ). It was launched in 2000.

Modeled after the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity and published by the Brookings Press, Economía is a policy journal --that is, one in which new theories or techniques are applied to policy questions, and not simply presented for their own sake. We seek papers on issues that are both at the forefront of the policy agenda and of broad interest to countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. We aim for the highest standards of theoretical and statistical rigor, but will only publish papers that are written in a style and language that makes them accessible to policymakers.

As does the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity, our journal also holds panel meetings twice a year, one in conjunction with the LACEA conference and the other one is held either in Latin America or in different Universities in the USA. These meetings are possible thanks to the generous donations of our sponsors:  The World Bank, LACEA, FEDESARROLLO, The Edward J. and Dorothy Clarke Kempf Memorial Fund at Yale University, the Center for International Development at Harvard University (CID), the Department of Economics at Yale University and The David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University ( DRCLAS ).
