Malaria Projects at CID
In collaboration with researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, the World Bank, and the World Health Organization, CID researchers collaborated on a book on The Economics of Malaria. Topics to be covered included the economic burden of malaria, cost-effectiveness of interventions, the economics of research and development in malaria, and a series of historical and contemporary case studies.
A few CID researchers had also proposed the establishment of a
Malaria
Vaccine Purchase Fund, designed to guarantee private sector vaccine
manufacturers of a market if they develop and effective vaccine against malaria.
