Mary Anne Baumgartner Mary Anne Baumgartner
Staff Assistant to William Clark

Mary Anne Baumgartner is Assistant to Professor William Clark, Nancy Dickson, and CID's Science, Environment and Development Group. She provides support for the numerous SED projects in addition to assisting with event and meeting coordination. Mary Anne is a graduate of Milton Academy and Bennington College, where she received a B.A. in History.


Dana Brudowsky
Research and Faculty Assistant

Dana came to the Kennedy School in July 2007. She participates as a research assistant to CID Senior Research Fellow Rachel McCleary and as a faculty assistant to Professors Stephen Walt and Robert Behn. She holds a B.A. from Wake Forest University and an M.A. from Middlebury College.


Richard Carey
Coordinator of Information Technology, SED Group

Richard Carey is a Coordinator of Information Technology for the Science, Environment and Development Group and supports CID's Sustainability Science Program.  He has over ten years of Internet industry experience including four years as Senior Systems Developer at the former ROXY.com satellite and wireless company.  He has worked as a freelance technology consultant, project manager, and web applications developer.


  Alexandra Cirone
Research Assistant to Rohini Pande and Asim Khwaja

Alexandra Cirone is research assistant to Professors Rohini Pande and Asim Khwaja. Prior to joining CID, Alexandra worked as a Project Coordinator for Grenzebach Glier & Associates, a philanthropic consulting firm based in Chicago, and as a research assistant to University of Chicago Professor Jim Leitzel. She also interned at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and completed her appointment as the 2006 New York Secretary General for the United Nations Association of the United States (UNA-USA). Alexandra graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago, where she served as a fellow for the graduate Program on International Security Policy (PISP).


 Kristen Eddy  

Kristen Eddy
Manager of Web Communications and Publications and Financial Officer

Since joining CID in December 2004, Kristen Eddy has been responsible for managing its collection of web sites and print and electronic communications. She also serves as the Center's internal expert on information management, web governance, and technologies for collaboration and communication. Prior to becoming CID's Financial Officer in May 2006, she was Manager of Collaboration Technologies for CID's Science, Environment and Development Group for six years, investigating and implementing new technologies to facilitate long-distance collaboration within international research teams. Kristen is a graduate of Harvard College where she earned a B.A. in Environmental Science and Public Policy.


 Marcela Escobari, CID Executive Director Marcela Escobari
Executive Director

Marcela Escobari has over a decade of experience in economic development, including work with industrial strategy, technology policy, and private sector development. Before joining as CID's Executive Director, Marcela led the Americas region and served on the Executive Committee of OTF Group, where she advised heads of state and private sector leaders on how to improve their countries' export competitiveness. Prior to working at OTF, she worked with indigenous communities in Bolivia for the World Bank and was a Mergers & Acquisitions investment banker with JP Morgan in New York. Marcela holds a B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College and a Masters in Public Policy (MPP) from the Harvard Kennedy School.


Ben Feigenberg
Research Assistant, Micro-Development Initiative

Ben Feigenberg joined CID in October 2007. He is a research assistant for the CID Micro-Development Initiative. Prior to joining CID, Ben spent a year teaching in Quito, Ecuador. Ben graduated from Brown University, where he earned B.A.s in Economics and Latin American Studies.


Jennifer Hoegen Jennifer Hoegen
Office Manager

Jennifer joined CID in 2007. She has previously worked in state government and disaster recovery planning. She holds a B.A. in sociology from UMass, Amherst and an M.A. in international relations from Boston University.


Bailey Klinger Bailey Klinger
Doctoral Fellow; Research Coordinator; Project Manager - South Africa Growth Initiative

Bailey is a doctoral candidate in the Public Policy program and graduate of the Masters in Public Administration in International Development (MPA/ID) program at the Kennedy School of Government. He manages the CID South Africa Growth Initiative and is a member of the research team, looking at issues related to exports and industrial policy with Ricardo Hausmann. He also manages research support and coordinates other projects within the Center on topics such as growth diagnostics, structural transformation, and entrepreneurship development. Prior to joining CID, Bailey worked in the research department of the World Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) with a minor in economics from Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada.


  Katie Naeve
Faculty Assistant

Katie Naeve joined CID in July 2007. She is assistant to Professors Nolan Miller, Dan Levy, and Lant Pritchett. Prior to joining CID, Katie interned for the Middle East and North Africa Division of Human Rights Watch and for AIESEC and the National Democratic Institute in Rabat, Morocco. Katie graduated from the University of Kansas, where she earned B.A.s in Spanish and Political Science.


  Margarita Navarro
Executive Assistant to the Director and Executive Director

Margarita Navarro joined CID in 2008. She was previously the Administrative Coordinator for Financial Services, working for the CFO at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Sandra Oliveira
Program Administrator, CID Mexico Program

Sandra Oliveira joined CID in July 2007. Prior to joining CID Sandra worked as a public school teacher in an urban high school and middle school. She taught U.S. and World History to English language learner students who had just arrived in the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a minor in History from Boston University as well as a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in History from Boston University.


 Nora O'Neil

Nora O'Neil
Program Manager, Sustainability Science Program

Nora O'Neil is a Program Manager with CID's Sustainability Science Program, where her responsibilities include grant administration, financial management, and event planning. Nora is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service as a concentrator in the Science, Technology and International Affairs Program with a Certificate in Russian Studies.


 Soumya Rangarajan

Soumya Rangarajan
Student Web Assistant

Soumya is a second year Master of Public Policy (MPP) student at the Harvard Kennedy School, studying science & technology policy with a focus on international development. She graduated from The University of Michigan in 2006, receiving a BS in political science and general biology.

Melissa Wojciechowski

Melissa Wojciechowski
Student Programs and Events Coordinator

Melissa Wojciechowski joined CID in January 2005, and her portfolio includes student programs, events, and communications. She graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a B.A. in English and Theater, and also spent a year at Oxford University.  She is currently pursuing her M. Ed. in Higher Education at the Harvard School of Education.
