Mary Anne is Assistant to Professor William Clark, Nancy Dickson, and CID's Science, Environment and Development Group. She provides support for the numerous SED projects in addition to assisting with event and meeting coordination. Mary Anne is a graduate of Milton Academy and Bennington College, where she received a B.A. in History.

Richie Carey
Coordinator of Information Technology

Richie is a Coordinator of Information Technology for the Science, Environment and Development Group and supports CID's Sustainability Science Program.  He has over twelve years of Internet industry experience including four years as Senior Systems Developer at the former ROXY.com satellite and wireless company.  He has worked as a freelance technology consultant, project manager, and web applications developer.

Prior to joining CID, Alexandra worked as a Project Coordinator for Grenzebach Glier & Associates, a philanthropic consulting firm based in Chicago, and as a research assistant to University of Chicago Professor Jim Leitzel. She also interned at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and completed her appointment as the 2006 New York Secretary General for the United Nations Association of the United States (UNA-USA). Alexandra graduated with a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Chicago, where she served as a fellow for the graduate Program on International Security Policy (PISP).

Marcela has over a decade of experience in economic development, including work with industrial strategy, technology policy, and private sector development. Before joining as CID's Executive Director, Marcela led the Americas region and served on the Executive Committee of OTF Group, where she advised heads of state and private sector leaders on how to improve their countries' export competitiveness. Prior to working at OTF, she worked with indigenous communities in Bolivia for the World Bank and was a Mergers & Acquisitions investment banker with JP Morgan in New York. Marcela holds a B.A. in Economics from Swarthmore College and a Masters in Public Policy (MPP) from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Jennifer Gala is the Program Manager for the Empowerment and Growth Labs and oversees student programs and events at Harvard's Center for International Development. Jennifer has been at the Kennedy School for over ten years working previously as program director in Executive Education. Her previous portfolio included: Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century; the Lee Kuan Yew Fellows Program; Financial Institutions for Private Enterprise Development; and Comparative Tax Policy and Administration. Jennifer earned her bachelor's degree in Anthropology and History from Purdue University and her masters in International Education Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Jennifer manages daily Center operations, human resources, finance, and the fellows program. Her professional experience includes the Massachusetts Office of the Attorney General, the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy, and an international Fortune 500 financial company in Boston.

In addition, she interned at the Massachusetts Caucus of Women’s Legislators where she worked on equal rights legislation for women. She also worked with the Women’s Rights Network at Wellesley College to plan and facilitate the Northeast Regional Beijing +5 Conference, and conducted independent research on child custody laws in cases where there was a history of partner abuse.

Jennifer has a B.A. in sociology from UMass, Amherst; a Master’s Certificate in Politics and Public Policy from UMass, Boston; and an M.A. in international relations from Boston University.

Alex joined CID in November 2008; in addition to faculty support he also provides support for the new International Development Area (DEV). Prior to joining the CID in November 2008, Alex worked for Metron-Farnier LLC of Boulder, CO as a project manager for municipal water management projects throughout the United States and abroad. Originally from Salem, MA, Alex holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Vermont in Business Administration, with a concentration in International Management and a German minor.

Bailey Klinger is a post-doctoral fellow at the Center for International Development, and Director of CID's Entrepreneurial Finance Lab where his research focuses on entrepreneurship and small-business finance. His other research centers on trade and structural transformation and growth diagnostics. He has consulted for the World Bank, United Nations, Asian and Inter-American Development Banks, and various country governments in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He received his MPA in International Development and PhD. in Public Policy at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

Sean Lewis-Faupel
Research Assistant to Rohini Pande and Asim Khwaja

Before joining CID, Sean worked as a web designer at Political Research Associates and provided faculty support for instructional technology at Brandeis University. In addition, he worked toward the formation of STAND: A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition and served as its Northeast Regional Outreach Coordinator. Sean received a B.A. in Politics and International and Global Studies from Brandeis University while minoring in Economics, French, and Physics. He also spent a semester studying Senegalese art and culture in Dakar.

Susan McDonald
Communications Manager

Susan has more than 15 years' experience in communications and strategic management, with a strong link to research and sustainable development. At CID, she oversees web communication, media relations, events, and publications with a focus on research dissemination and donor relations. She came to CID from Harvard Business School, where she developed and disseminated research on philanthropy, global poverty, and nonprofit management with the Social Enterprise Initiative and launched the new "Sustainability" website. Previously, at King County, she managed award-winning social marketing campaigns, in addition to public-private partnerships, budgets, contracts, grants, and evaluation. Susan was a founding board member of the Green Lake Park Alliance and previously worked as communications director for a Washington, D.C.-based NGO working on energy issues in developing countries. She holds an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School and a master's in communications from the University of Washington. Publications include sole-authored papers in the International Journal of Sustainability Communication and with the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School, and a working paper forecasting trends in social enterprise, co-authored with HBS faculty.

Margarita joined CID in 2008 as Executive Assistant to the Center's Director and Executive Director. She was previously the Administrative Coordinator for Financial Services, working for the CFO at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Sandra Oliveira
Program Administrator, CID Mexico Program and Entrepreneurial Finance Lab

Sandra joined CID in July 2007. Prior to joining CID Sandra worked as a public school teacher in an urban high school and middle school. She taught U.S. and World History to English language learner students who had just arrived in the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications with a minor in History from Boston University as well as a Masters of Arts in Teaching with a specialization in History from Boston University.

Nora O'Neil
Program Manager, Sustainability Science Program

Nora is a Program Manager with CID's Sustainability Science Program, where her responsibilities include grant administration, financial management, and event planning. Nora is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service as a concentrator in the Science, Technology and International Affairs Program with a Certificate in Russian Studies.

Samuel Stolper
Research Assistant to Rema Hanna

Samuel works with Professor Hanna on environmental policy and health projects in India. Prior to joining CID, he was a research specialist at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Biomedical Micro and Nanotechnology, investigating nanofabrication for improved diagnostic medicine. Most recently, he spent six months traveling independently in the Middle East, North Africa, and Western Europe. Samuel graduated from Brown University in 2006 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering.
