CID Faculty Grants Program

Small Discretionary Grants | Grants for Seminars
Collaborative Research Grants | Junior Faculty Research Grants

New! Faculty Grants in Sustainability Science
New! Faculty Grants in Remittances and Migration

Small Discretionary Grants
Faculty associates may apply for small discretionary grants up to $5,000 for research relating to the core interests of the Center. These grants may be used for a variety of research-related purposes, including graduate or undergraduate research assistance, data acquisition and research-related travel. This category allows faculty to apply for support on short notice. Applications for small discretionary grants are accepted throughout the academic year and should be sent to the CID Executive Director Marcela Escobari via email.

Faculty Grants for Seminars
The Center invites applications from CID faculty associates to support faculty-led seminars. The seminars may be for the general Harvard community or for small groups of faculty to discuss current issues in international development. The intent is to stimulate further collaborative, multidisciplinary research. Center funding for such activities typically covers costs including meals, transportation costs for guest speakers, materials and a graduate student rapporteur. Applications for seminar grants are accepted twice each year and awards may be up to $5,000.
Application deadlines: December 1 and March 15

All assistant, associate, and full professors in all the Faculties and Schools of Harvard University may apply, however at least one member in the collaboration must be a faculty associate of the CID.
Application deadline: March 15

Proposals may include requests for graduate student research assistance, authors' workshops, research-related travel, and other project expenses. Direct support for course preparation cannot be funded, but proposals that link courses and research activities can be considered. Proposals are reviewed twice per year.
