CID Undergraduate Associates Program

Harvard undergraduates from all concentrations are invited to join the CID Undergraduate Associates Program.  The Program is intended to support a community of students interested in international development.  To this end, the Program helps students gain exposure to international development research from a variety of academic disciplines, build contacts with development practitioners and gain experience in the field.

The Program has three components: a discussion seminar, course work, and a senior thesis.  To successfully complete the Program, students must complete an application; participate in a CID seminar for at least one semester; demonstrate their interest through a self-designed course of study as part of their work toward degrees in their own concentration; and complete a senior thesis or project on a topic related to international development.

Like a Certificate Program, the CID Undergraduate Associates Program confers no official credit to the student nor is it listed on the student's transcript.  Rather, the Program is extracurricular and specific to the CID.  Being a CID Undergraduate Associate means that the student receives priority for CID-funded WorldTeach Summer Internships, CID Summer Research Grants, CID Research Assistant opportunities and CID special events and conferences.  CID Undergraduate Associates are also eligible for the annual CID Thesis Prize, awarded each spring for the most outstanding thesis related to development. [More on opportunities for students]

Program applications are available in October and February each year.  Click here to access the Spring 2007 application (due Tuesday, 17 April 2007). All students with further questions should contact Melissa Wojciechowski at the CID.
