Reflective Practices and Parallels Between the World Social Forum and the Bridge-Builders Conference: Our Role as Organizers
Tuesday, March 16th
6-8 p.m. in Bell Hall, 5th Floor, Belfer
Building, KSG
Purpose: To reflect on our roles as faculty, administrative support, and student organizers of the annual Bridge-Builders Conference, this event will use the macro-setting example of the World Social Forum - an open platform for grassroots leaders throughout the world - to draw parallels with the micro-setting of our organizing work at Harvard.
Harvard graduate students Pam Young (MPP) and Kate Botham (MTS) - as well as 2003 Bridge-Builder Conference participants Choying Drolma of Nepal and Chetna Sinha of India - will briefly present the outcomes of their research at the World Social Forum in January 2004. Participants will use this parallel example as a way to step outside of our organizing work at Harvard and reflect critically on the merits of such forums, here and throughout the world. We will then share reflective and evaluative feedback with one another over dinner at small tables, and converge as a large group again after dessert.
If you have been involved in the Bridge-Builders Conference,
or you would like to be in the future, please join us and send your RSVP to Pam
Young.
