His interest and coursework focus on the links between development and politics and how they can target the challenges of sustainable development. In the summer of 2007, he worked in the Government of Kenya and analyzed the implementation of Vision 2030, the country’s long term development plan. He is the recipient of the Lithgow Scholarship (2007), which funded his work at Kenya’s Business Daily. Santini started his career as financial analyst in London, where he worked at Baring Asset Management. He later moved to New York, where he managed the Treasury Department at IFT International. While at the European Commission Delegation of the United Nations, he worked on regular and peacekeeping budget reform; later on in 2006, he joined the World Food Programme in Rome. As a filmmaker, Santini has produced and edited several documentary films focusing on social and development issues. His work in print journalism includes a stint as a foreign correspondent for Next Exit, a monthly news magazine published in Italy.
